General Tire “Vegas to Reno” The Long Way presented by FOX

The 2016 General Tire “Vegas to Reno” The Long Way presented by FOX, “The Longest Off-Road Race in the United States!” is the 20th Anniversary of “Vegas to Reno”.  We are celebrating our 20 years with a 2-day staged event!  The race will begin with the festivities starting in Las Vegas, McMillin Race Day 1 will go from the start line near Caliente, NV, to Tonopah and KC HiLites Race Day 2 will go from Tonopah to Reno!  Start getting ready for a spectacular, multi-day event ~ this is what you’ve been asking for; we deliver!

RacingTrax.com – this is a new Satellite Tracking Company we are using for Cars, Trucks and UTV’s, it is mandatory for all these classes, CTU.  The order form is on their website, www.RacingTrax.com, so log on today and order your mounting bracket and unit for “Vegas to Reno.”  Motorcycles and Quads are not required to have the tracking unit.  (This is replacing IRC)  They are great guys to work with, order today!

Letters to the BLM – this is a sample letter that you can write and send in to BLM, you have 25 days from July 1 to send letters, there is still time.  This is your chance to fight for your lands to remain open and recreation free, write a letter!   BLM called (7/19/16) needs more letters, please send in something, hand write it if you have to, say we want our lands open for recreation!

We will have a Catering Company in Tonopah, Sweet Dixie Southern BBQ.  He will  be near the finish line on Friday and Saturday morning. Check out his FB page and let him know you will see him in Tonopah.

Note – as many of you know there is some controversy over 32 miles of our race course.  Just so you know we are here working it out. We will know on Aug 10 if we get our original course, which is referred to as “Plan A” here.  We have been working hard on making sure you get a race and we have planned for an option, that is called “Plan B” which will entail a transfer section, to bypass these 32 miles.  The draw will still be on July 27, which is when we usually send out the FIP.  Since we won’t know what course we are getting you will receive instructions for either Plan A or Plan B.  Plan B involves a transfer section, we know it is difficult for you, and us, but at least it is early in the race.  We are doing our best to work this out, we are working on two of everything.  We hope you have the best experience you can, it will still be an incredible adventure no matter what happens~dd)  Remember what Winston Churchill said “Never, never, never give up!”

Entry Listjust hit 302, great entry, we are so excited!!!  42 Trick Trucks, 19 Unlimited Cars, 32 Class 6100, 61 UTV’s, 29 Ironmen – wow!  Good luck to all our racers, it’s going to be an awesome two-days of racing!  (updated 7/22/16)  Have a great weekend everyone and be safe!

Camp Adventure – Diagram.  Camp Adventure is an area we have graded that gives our racers a place to park their RV’s.  There are no hook-ups/services in this area.  See “hotel list” if you want an RV sort with hook-ups (Tonopah Station.)  We need an idea of how many RV’s (etc…) you are parking in this area, just email me race # and # of vehicles to bitd@bitd.com and we’ll log you in.  Camp Adventure is getting full!  You can order potable water for a fee from M&K, (775) 482-6841.

Room Option – for Tonopah!  Great idea from Kent, a Motorcycle Ironman racer in Reno, Gordigear manufacture, No Am dist in Phoenix, $1200.  Tepui Tents (Soquel, CA) and Cascadia (Bend, OR) offer rental programs.  Thanks Kent for the info, Reno people are amazing!

Revised Contact info for Baja Pits – Contact Mary Hunt (619) 647-8256, Bajamary46@aol.com (7/6/16)

Lights ? – will you need lights?  KC HiLites to be exact.  MCQ probably not.  CTU, well, if you are having problems yes, if you’re having a great day, probably not. Sunset is 7:36 pm on Fri and 7:43 pm on Saturday.  More so on Day 2, the CT leader should get to Dayton around 8 pm, that’s our prediction, so if you are having problems be prepared to put them on at Top Gun.
