The BlueWater Resort & Casino Parker “425” Presented by Impact kicks off the 2018 Best In The Desert race schedule for the car and truck classes and, with still a week and a half to enter, more than 200 race teams have already signed up to run. The race field so far includes 49 Trick Trucks, 19 Class 1500, 42 Class 6100 Spec Engine Trick Tricks and 41 Class 1000 Cars.
Race activities will get underway at 11:00 AM Thursday morning, February 1st with the traditional “Time Trials” qualifying session for combined Trick Trucks and Class 1500 Unlimited Cars, and 6100 Class as they shoot it out for the “Team Ford” Pole Award and first starting position.
Following the qualifying session, the 9th annual Parker “425” Downtown Experience will kick off at 2:30 PM. The Downtown Parker “425” Experience features all the race vehicles from “Time Trials” on display along with live entertainment throughout the entire afternoon. This is a great festive event for both race fans and the local residents of Parker.
The Parker “425” race weekend continues Friday morning, February 2nd, as contingency and technical inspection take place in the parking lot of the Blue Water Resort & Casino. With the beautiful Colorado River as a backdrop, race fans have the chance to get up close and check out hundreds of race vehicles as they weave their way through contingency row. Plus, they see first hand the latest off-road and racing accessories from the industry’s top manufacturers.
The 2018 edition of the BlueWater Resort & Casino Parker “425” presented by IMPACT will again feature a staggered 2-start format beginning Saturday morning, February 3rd. There will be two (2) starts, the early morning start will be for open wheel class vehicles and smaller cars/trucks, and the 2nd early afternoon start will be for the heavier weight class vehicles. The two start format is in the interest of safety to separate slower classes from much faster classes.
The day’s first start will stage at 5:00 AM at the “Parker Python”, adjacent to the main pit located just outside downtown Parker. This group of race vehicle classes will then start the race, beginning at 6:00 AM. Some of these classes will compete for two laps, with the remaining classes running three laps. This first start will feature a Gran Prix Finish, which means when the overall leader receives the checkered flag, all others crossing the finish line after that will also receive the checkered regardless of how many laps they have completed.
The second start of the day will feature the Trick Truck class, along with heavier cars and trucks. These racers will stage at 12 noon at the “Parker Python”. From there, they will be escorted to the starting line located on California Ave. in the middle of downtown Parker. The winner of “Time Trials” will get the solo green flag start at approximately 1:30 PM with the rest of the field starting two at a time after that. All of these racers will compete for three laps. The finish line for all race vehicles will be in the parking lot of the Blue Water Resort & Casino.
