An Update From Best In The Desert Regarding the 2020 Race Schedule: Full Steam Ahead
To Sponsors, Racers, Volunteer Staff, Media, and Supporters:
Las Vegas, NV April 1, 2020: Due to state shelter-in-place restrictions in effect through the end of April, we are moving the VT Construction Silver State 300 Presented by Polaris RZR to later in May or June with no pre-fun run and pending local and federal guidelines. We will be announcing official dates in the coming weeks.
In addition, we are working on new dates for the Jagged X National Desert Cup Presented by Quantum Motorsports. We anticipate the Maxxis Vegas to Reno Presented by Fox, Battle Born 250, and Bluewater Desert Challenge to take place on their originally scheduled dates.
Best In The Desert will be providing weekly updates in the weeks ahead to keep everyone informed. We are confident that we will be back racing race as soon as we are sure it is safe to do so.
In the meantime, we thank you for your continued support of Best In The Desert. We hope this message finds you and your family well, in good spirits, and in good health. We pray you are finding your way through these challenging times with optimism and hope for the future. Challenges such as the one we currently face reveal character and can only be viewed as a test of our commitment and resolve. The off-road racing community embodies these ideals and we are confident that collectively we will rise to the occasion to overcome this current threat to our way of life and get back to enjoying the sport we love so much. Every dark cloud has a silver lining and we are sure that the bright spot in this current situation will be a renewed sense of family and the fact we don’t take things for granted, especially our beloved sport of off-road racing.
In its 35 years of existence, Best In The Desert has seen ups and downs, good times and bad, come and go. And through it all, it has never lost sight of its vision: To promote the sport of off-road racing, create exciting, challenging, and well-organized races that test the skills and abilities of our racers and to stand as a shining example of the pioneer spirit, the sense of freedom and adventure our country was built on.
A famous person once said, “Worrying about the future does not empty tomorrow of its troubles. It empties today of its strength.” At Best In the Desert, we are proceeding exactly as Casey would want us to: Focused on today, working Full Steam Ahead! Hopefully, you too are taking advantage of this downtime to get your race vehicle ready for the next event.
Casey Folks dedicated his life to these ideals. He worked tirelessly in the face of enormous challenges to create a racing organization that reflected not only the love he had for our great country but also one that treated everyone equally with dignity and respect. We strive today to honor those ideals and wanted to send our fans and racers this short message of encouragement.
