A large field of the nation’s top off-road drivers will test themselves on the world-famous 17-mile semi short course which includes rough whoop sections, powerline roads, and a specially-prepared infield section. Fans and spectators new to the sport are welcome to watch the action and visit the vendor row along the track which will include top off-road brands like King Shocks and food and beverage tents

The King Shocks Laughlin Desert Classic will feature two full days of racing. Each class will run four laps on both Saturday and Sunday with combined times determining final podium placement. Finishers will also receive double points to go toward the Best In The Desert’s Series Class Championships.

Over 13 Class 1000 cars have pre-entered the event to attempt to best Adam Yurcho who is currently in the lead. Class 1500 will also be one to watch with Sam Berri taking on Frank Russel and Sean Argentino for top spots. 21 trucks will rev their engines on the starting line to attempt a Class 6100 win including defending Series Champion Ray Griffith, Terry Householder, Jerry Herling, Joseph Herling, Dustin Grabowski, Jordan Brenthel, RJ Merritt, Brent Fox, and more.

The Trick Truck Class will be a wild card of a race that is truly up for grabs. Defending 2020 King Shocks Laughlin Desert Classic class winner Adam Householder, who has had a good year of racing, is back to keep his title. Top contenders BJ Baldwin, fresh off a third-place finish at the 2021 Maxxis Tires “Casey Folks” Vegas to Reno, and Kyle Jergensen, looking for his first Trick Truck win, will be ready to hit the pedal to the metal. To add to the competition, the Concrete Motorsports is entering two teams including the #70 truck driven by Harley Letner and the #1 truck driven by Kevin Thompson, who usually drive together. If that class isn’t loaded enough, perennial Best In The Desert Trick Truck challengers Tracy Graf, Steve Olliges, and #AHBEEF star Justin Lofton are also registered to race and will give the best drivers a run for their money.

The action starts at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday Sept. 23, 2021 with Time Trials for Trick Trucks, Class 1500, Class 1000, Class 6100/6200, and Class 7200. Friday will be dedicated to Registration/Tech/Contingency and Best In The Desert’s Event Expo where race fans and customers can get up close and personal with the racers and the biggest brands in off-road racing. All activities will take place at the Tropicana Hotel.

The King Shocks Laughlin Desert Classic is quite frankly one of the best races of the year. It certainly is from a pure racing perspective as the nature of the special 17-mile course really puts pressure on the drivers to perform,” commented Best In The Desert CMO Bryan Folks. “Year in, year out, we see some of the best racing of the series at Laughlin and with ideal spectating conditions, it makes for a great weekend not only for the racers but the pit crews as well. Our partnership with Laughlin could not be stronger and we look forward to welcoming everyone to this amazing town for another great weekend of Best In The Desert racing.”

Well, we are back in Laughlin and look forward to seeing what the car and truck divisions can do,” stated Best In The Desert Race Operations Director Jeff Phillips. “Coming off the hugely successful All Terrain Concepts UTV Legends Championship for UTVs, MCs, and Quads we are pleased to see that temperatures will be as much as 15 degrees cooler this coming weekend at Laughlin than two weeks ago. Perfect weather for spending a day in the desert. We look forward to seeing everyone at the races this weekend. And for all you racers who have entered, you’d better bring your ‘A’ game. The classes are loaded and the course is super demanding.”

The King Shocks Laughlin Desert Classic will be broadcast on MAVTV later this fall. Check the Best In The Desert website for the schedule.
