Best In The Desert Announces Jagged X National Desert Cup Presented by Quantum Motorsports Race Postponement

Las Vegas, Nevada (March 17, 2020): Best In The Desert, America’s largest off-road racing organization, today announced that it is postponing the Jagged X National Desert Cup Presented by Quantum Motorsports to a future date. This announcement is being made due to the rapidly changing protocols and advisements surrounding the Covid-19 virus. In particular, Best In The Desert was advised today by the BLM that there is uncertainty now on their part whether or not they will be allowed to proceed with the event as scheduled. Based on this information, and in an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our racing community, the decision was made to postpone the event to a future date. Details are being worked out, and an announcement will be made shortly regarding a new date for the event.

“With a heavy heart, we’ve made the decision to postpone the upcoming Jagged X National Desert Cup Presented by Quantum Motorsports due to the ramifications of the Covid-19 virus,” commented Daryl Folks, CEO of Best In The Desert. “This event, in particular, requires cooperation with several land use agencies, and today we were informed that they might be instructed at the federal level not to continue even with already permitted off-road events. We didn’t want to be in the position where all our racers, sponsors, families and pit support personnel came to the event only to have it canceled at the last minute by one of the federal agencies outside our control. We also had to consider the safety of all, as safety has always been at the top of our list at Best In The Desert. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, but please stay tuned for the replacement date as we fully intend to host this exciting event in the near future.”

“The decision to cancel this event has weighed heavily on my heart as well,” commented Best In The Desert CMO Bryan Folks. “In fact, during my tenure as owner of Best In The Desert, this is perhaps the most difficult decision that we have had to face, mainly because it is in direct contrast to my father’s core beliefs. Casey Folks believed in perseverance and never giving up. When he made a commitment, as we have to our racers with this event, he fulfilled that commitment. However, we’ve had to accept we are in new, unchartered waters with the Covid-19 virus. After a long meeting with our staff this morning we have concluded that the only option is to postpone this event. I want to give a very heartfelt thank you to our internal staff, for their dedication in trying to keep this date alive by working every minute through government updates and finding ways to keep moving forward. I also want to thank all of our racers, sponsors, volunteer staff, and supporters who stayed positive and supported us in keeping the possibility alive. Finally, I want everyone to know while we have had to postpone the event I assure you it will still be held and to the high standards you have come to expect from Best In The Desert.”
