Method Race Wheels LAUGHLIN DESERT CLASSIC
Presented by Polaris – October 10-14, 2018
The Method Race Wheels Laughlin Desert Classic presented by Polaris kicks off October 10th with a nearly week-long series of exciting special events leading up to Thursday night’s first ever Best in the Desert’s UTV night race, and Saturday’s and Sunday’s multi-heat style races showcasing Best In The Desert’s Car, Truck and UTV classes. More than 200 race teams are expected to take on the special 16-mile racecourse. From the new UTV Night Race sponsored by Baja Designs on Thursday, thru the Laughlin Leap competition sponsored by Fabtech, and the final heat race on Sunday, the action and excitement will never slow down.
The “Laughlin Leap by Fabtech” competition will be held on Saturday evening Oct. 13th at 7:00 pm. The “Laughlin Leap by Fabtech” is open to all car, truck and UTV classes with $10,000 in prize money and other awards up for grabs. This event is sure to elevate the level of excitement and spectacle for everyone in attendance.
Colbey Groom of race sponsor Method Race Wheels had this to say, “A contest of courage, skill and reaction time that goes back centuries. A true test of one’s gumption and willingness to put it all on the line in the name of sweet, sweet victory. While there aren’t any paces being counted or actual shots fired (only verbal nowadays) drivers and teams converge once again on Laughlin, Nevada for the third annual Method Race Wheels Laughlin Desert Classic Presented by Polaris aka ‘The Duel in the Desert’.
Colbey continued, “The festivities begin Thursday morning with Trick Truck, Class 1500 and Class 6100 drivers vying for the top qualifier position and the coveted Method Race Wheels pinstriped gold wheel trophy. Later on at 6:00 pm drivers, crew, family and friends are all invited out to the Pit Row Hospitality Tent for the Method Race Wheels Welcome Party. Come enjoy the night UTV races with a taco in one hand and a beer in the other. It’s all on the house.
Friday tech and contingency leads into two epic days of racing on Saturday and Sunday. As a halftime break, the famous Laughlin Leap jump competition will take place Saturday evening at 7:00 pm. Be there. It will most certainly be epic. Thanks once again to Laughlin for hosting this band of misfits for the third glorious year in a row. We’re certainly stoked to be here and hope everyone in attendance has a killer time. Let’s go racing!”
The city of Laughlin is anxiously looking forward to this exciting event as well. MJ Smith of the Laughlin Tourism Commission said, “On behalf of the Laughlin Tourism Commission and the Laughlin resorts, I would like to welcome racers and race fans to the Method Race Wheels Laughlin Desert Classic sponsored by Polaris. Best In The Desert has worked tirelessly for more than a year to give off-road enthusiasts to race a superb course in one of their favorite locations.”
